To become an Illinois-licensed home inspector, you must: successfully complete an approved pre-licensing course (including five field inspection events); pass the Illinois Home Inspector License Exam; and submit the application and fee to the state.
MCC is an Illinois-approved Pre-License School for Home Inspectors and this is an Illinois-approved pre-license course.
This course covers the major elements of home inspection to help prepare you for the state certification exam. Successful completion of this 60-hour course, along with the five mandatory inspection events, is required to sit for the Illinois State Exam. Field inspection events may be offered as a part of this course, subject to availability, and will take place outside of class hours.  You are responsible for your own transportation to and from the inspection event sites, and may be required to complete additional inspections outside of this course in order to meet the state licensure requirements. Topics covered include:  exteriors, interiors, roofing, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, structural, misc. appliances, laws, and standards of practice.

If you have had a felony conviction, you will need to contact the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) at (217) 785-0800 to see if you will be eligible to sit for the exam.  IDFPR requires students be at least 21 years old to take the licensure exam.
