In this course you’ll review and assemble the knowledge and skills gained through the prerequisite courses (Certified Nursing Assistant, Electrocardiogram Technician, and Phlebotomy Technician) and train for working under the supervision of a Practice/Operations Manager or their designee to provide the following duties: scheduling appointments, patient intake and care, routine diagnostic and recording procedures, maintaining medical records, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, medicine administration, first aid, recording vital signs and medical histories. Coursework will include basic anatomy and physiology; medical terminology; medical law and ethics; patient psychology and communications; medical office procedures; and clinical diagnostic, examination, testing, and treatment procedures. This course prepares you to take the National Healthcareers (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification exam. The cost of this exam is included in your course fee.

In this class you will have asynchronous work in addition to the live class on Mondays.  Students will be expected to complete assignments, view recorded lecture, participate in discussion boards, and take quizzes online outside of scheduled class lecture time.  After successful completion of the course, you will be required to complete a two week 40 hour externship prior to taking your Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam through National Healthcareers (NHA).
