The Medal of Honor is our nation's highest military honor and is given for action above and beyond the call of duty. There were 473 WW II soldiers recognized with the Medal of Honor. The majority of the recipients received the recognition posthumously, their young lives cut short. In his book, Always Remember - World War II Through Veterans' Eyes, Dr. John Ulferts interviewed 20 WW II Medal of Honor recipients. This presentation will tell their incredible stories of valor in words and pictures. From providing life-saving medical care while firing at enemy soldiers in Okinawa, to throwing a burning phosphorus bomb out of a plane, to escaping head hunters in the Pacific, the stories of these brave Medal of Honor recipients must always be remembered by a grateful nation.
