Medical Assistants work under the supervision of a Practice or Operations Manager to support both administrative and clinical functions. Duties include scheduling appointments, patient intake and care, maintaining medical records, preparing patients for exams, recording vital signs and medical histories, performing routine diagnostic procedures, drawing blood, administering medications, and providing first aid.
This course covers anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, medical law and ethics, patient communication, medical office procedures, and clinical testing and treatment skills. A 60-hour clinical experience is integrated throughout the program, providing hands-on training in a hospital or medical office setting. Upon completion, students are eligible to sit for the NHA CCMA certification exam.
Students must first complete the Phlebotomy Technician Training, EKG Technician Training, and CNA prior to enrolling in the Medical Assistant course.
This course has immunization requirements and does require a background check and drug screen.
