In August 1943, while the world was waging war, Eleanor Roosevelt embarked on a secret five-week mission at the request of her husband, President Roosevelt. She boarded a military transport plane and headed to the Pacific theater while the war with Japan was far from being decided. Her quest was to discover and report back first-hand accounts of the war, in such a way that only she could do. This presentation follows Eleanor's rigorous and daring trek to Hawaii, New Zealand, Australia and military bases along the way. Learn what she discovered and reported back to her husband, as well as the unexpected responses she received from military personnel, ranging from top leaders to foot soldiers in the trenches. This class is offered by our collaborative Rock Valley College instructor, Brad Keyes.
