Growing up in Hebron, Illinois, not yet known for its basketball, it didn't seem likely the last time they would see each other was thousands of miles from home in the far reaches of the Pacific. Assigned to different battleships in WWII, the brothers were able to meet by pure chance and circumstances. Years later, one came home. The other became the only McHenry County Medal of Honor recipient.
