“Share the world, one drawing at a time” by joining the Crystal Lake chapter of Urban Sketchers (USk) for a day of creativity in Woodstock Square. Our home base will be the MCC Catalyst Campus in downtown Woodstock, where we’ll gather for meals and share ideas. From there, we’ll head out to capture the vibrant square, including the weekly Farmers Market and the architectural beauty of Woodstock’s historic buildings. New to sketching? Don’t be intimidated! Urban sketching is simply the practice of drawing on location and capturing the world as you see it. This inclusive community of artists is eager to share tips, tricks, and guidance to help you get started.
Have unused supplies? Join us for the Art Supplies Swap and Share during the event, where you can bring extra materials to exchange with fellow artists for fresh inspiration. Meals (light breakfast, lunch, and dinner) are included with registration. Participants are responsible for bringing their own supplies, such as a sketchbook, drawing materials, portable seating, and personal items. Questions about what to bring? Trains depart from Chicago OTC at 8:30 a.m. and arrive in Woodstock by 10 a.m. Late arrivals are welcome. Return departures from Woodstock are at 7:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m., and 9:30 p.m. to Chicago OTC.
