Get licensed and gain real-world experience with the Home Inspection Pre-Licensing Course—now enhanced through an exciting new partnership with HouseDoctors INC!
This comprehensive course meets Illinois state requirements and prepares you to become a licensed home inspector. You’ll gain in-depth knowledge of building systems, inspection techniques, and industry standards—plus, benefit from field inspection events led by professionals at HouseDoctors INC.
This course covers the major elements of home inspection to help prepare you for the National Home Inspector Examination.
Successful completion of this 60-hour course, along with the 15-hour field inspection course through HouseDoctors INC, is required to sit for the National Home Inspector Examination. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the inspection event sites, and may be required to complete additional inspections outside of this course in order to meet the state licensure requirements.
Topics covered include: exteriors, interiors, roofing, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, structural, misc. appliances, laws, and standards of practice.
Tuition includes textbook, 5 field inspection events, and the field exam.
Please expect to pay an additional $49 for a 1-month interNACHI membership. National Home Inspector Examination and IDFPR application fee not included.
If you have had a felony conviction, you will need to contact the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) at (217) 785-0800 to see if you will be eligible to sit for the exam. IDFPR requires students be at least 18 years old to take the licensure exam.
